About the Event

A full, spring day with experienced clinicians/drivers provides an excellent opportunity to learn how to choose and fit harness, how to harness, how to choose a cart/carriage, and see how to start a horse to drive. The clinicians demonstrate what they teach using a member's horse. Harnesses and carts/carriages are present so you can see them up close and ask questions. In addition, you'll hear the questions and answers from others in the clinic...and learn even more! The clinic concludes with several members driving their horses through a derby course. Clinic participants can observe a range of horse types, horse/cart/carriage combinations, and experience levels among drivers. The morning portion of the Clinic will be held indoors at Birds Hill Park Ranch Restaurant with coffee and muffins to welcome you. Please plan to arrive not later than 9:30 AM. Parking is free, but you will need a Park pass for the day. These can be obtained online from Manitoba Parks in advance. Bring your lunch and find a picnic table outside, or buy your lunch from the restaurant. The afternoon portion moves next door to the Manitoba Horse Council facility barns area and Grand Prix ring. Bring a comfy lawn chair and dress for the weather. The cost of the clinic includes your coffee/muffins and a thorough handout resource.
